Our Story

🌿 About The Wild Within

The Wild Within is a heart-centered children’s book series created by pediatric occupational therapist Hannah Pfeifer, inspired by her passion for helping children understand and navigate their emotions through story, connection, and play.

Each book in the series invites children into their own inner world — a place filled with colorful animal characters who represent different emotions and teach meaningful strategies for self-awareness and regulation. From Benny the Bear, who embodies anger, to Ellie the Elephant, who represents sadness, each story helps children see that every feeling has a purpose, a need, and a place.

Rooted in neuroscience, child development, and occupational therapy, The Wild Within makes emotional learning both accessible and engaging. It’s the perfect resource for parents, educators, therapists, and caregivers who want to teach children emotional intelligence in a way that feels natural, story-driven, and fun.

Hannah created this series after years of working with children and families who struggled to name, understand, and regulate their feelings. Her goal was to bring research-backed tools to life through stories that help children build confidence, connection, and resilience — all while nurturing the parent-child bond.

And this is just the beginning. Future books in The Wild Within series will explore all kinds of social-emotional learning topics — from bravery, calm, and love to self-esteem, anxiety, and empathy — giving families and professionals a powerful collection of resources to grow with their children through every feeling and stage.

At its core, The Wild Within is more than a book series — it’s a movement toward helping children recognize that within every wild emotion lies wisdom, strength, and the power to connect.
